Fall Break – Part 3

Early Wednesday morning, we left Gatlinburg and headed for Cumberland Falls.  It was pouring rain most of the way and the clouds were hanging low in the mountains.

Cumberland Falls has always been a special place for us.  DH and I spent lots of time there during college days and we’ve spent lots of family time there over the years.  Its such a beautiful, peaceful, relaxing place.  Perfect for the last day of vacation.  I’m so grateful that DH added this stop at the end of our trip.

Cumberland Falls (125 feet wide, 68 foot drop) sometimes called the Niagara of the South.

Paths lead from the top of the Falls to a platform at the bottom and back through the woods to several viewing points.

Trees along the river show their beautiful autumn colors.

A peaceful view from our room at the lodge.
I sat by the window in our room at the lodge, knitting and looking out on a beautiful forest view.
