Months ago, I ran across the Gail (aka Nightsongs) shawl (Ravelry link). It was love at first sight. I’d never knit a lace shawl before so I set about learning and practicing. First there was the Swallowtail scarf, next the Kellokukka, then Traveling Woman . . . and I was ready. After reading through lots of discussions and asking some questions, I took a deep breath and cast on. Six weeks later . . . here’s the finished Gail/Nightsongs.Pattern: Gail (aka Nightsongs) by MaweLucky/Jane Araujo Yarn: Malabrigo Sock in Indicieta (approx. 506 yards) Needles: US size 7 circular, US size 9 for bind off Completed: October 28, 2009 Finished size: 80 x 36 inches Notes: I added a center stitch throughout. Completed 6 repeats and added a lifeline after every repeat (whether I thought I needed it or not). Stitch markers between each repeat in the row made catching mistakes much easier.
The mismatched dye lots that I was so worried about here has turned out to be of my favorite elements of the shawl. It added an edging that’s just a touch darker. Almost like outlining the lacy edges of the shawl.
A few more pictures . . . just ’cause I love this shawl so much 🙂
Enjoy your day!
