Happy New Year Everyone!
I’m not much for New Year’s Resolutions. Resolutions are a matter of “to do or not to do” so I tend to make them really benign and useless or too lofty and hard to keep. A bunch of years ago I stopped making resolutions and instead I try to reflect on the year past and set goals for the year ahead. I like this definition of a goal — “the destination of a journey” — it’s less intimidating and more motivating.
So . . . here are some plans and goals I’ll be focusing on for 2010 and charting progress here in the blog.
I’ve joined some new groups on Ravelry for 2010 that involve setting goals and I’ve tried to be realistic. I think the groups will be fun and help me keep a little focus, especially in wrapping up those WIPs.
Here’s a pic of my first shawl this year for the 10 Shawls in 2010 Group — started at midnight 😉
And, to keep me organized, my 2010 Knitting Journal. I love decorating blank books and having a fresh journal for each year.
DH and T gave me a new camera (Nikon Coolpix L100) for Christmas to support my developing interest in photography. I’ve been snapping pics all week 😉 asking them lots of questions and having a great time. DH and T are both excellent photographers and I have a lot to learn from them. I’ve joined another group on Ravelry called Through the Eye of the Lens. It’s set up to help folks learn about their cameras and work on their skills. I’m looking forward to giving it a go.
The Totally Useless Stitch-Along (TU SAL) is continuing in 2010 and I’ve bought a new jar, the old one overflowed after only a few months.
When I joined in August I really got interested in cross-stitch again as I checked out everyone’s beautiful projects. So I’ve also joined YoYo’s Christmas Design SAL.
Well, the Fall Into Reading Challenge was a great way to get me back into reading. I’m looking for a Winter Challenge to help keep me on track. I may just have to start my own 😉 and I’ll track my progress here.
Each new year always brings some surprises and I’m looking forward to the good ones and praying for strength to handle the others.
What about you? Do make resolutions or goals? What do you have planned for 2010? I wish you the very best!
Thanks for joining me here as 2010 begins.
