Where do you like to indulge in your craft? Is your favourite arm chair your little knitting cubby area, or do you prefer to ‘knit in public’? Do you like to crochet in the great outdoors, perhaps, or knit in the bath, or at the pub?
Anywhere … anytime … well, almost 😉
When I first “restarted” (see Day 1) knitting and crochet, I kept it close to home. I was loving afghans at the time and they don’t travel really well after they reach a certain size. Although, working on an afghan draped across you lap does help in a cool car on a long trip.
As my skills improved and my confidence grew, my “need” to be knitting grew as well. Soon I took everywhere I could. There are a couple of bags that hold socks and dishcloths in progress; ready to travel when needed. I’ve lost count of the number of folks who sit down beside me in waiting rooms and start a conversation about my knitting. Some knit, some don’t. Knitting calms me and talking to me about it apparently calms them. I’m just careful not to take a project that requires counting or concentration.
On a really nice day, I love to sit on the deck or on the lawn with a glass of tea and my lace project. Good light, cool breeze, birds singing. Perfect!
Most of my work is done here … in my stitching chair. I’ve created a comfy “nest” in the family room. I have to admit that my corner got a good straightening up before the picture 🙂 Everything I need is close at hand.
