Last weekend I had a new crochet project in mind and started to test it out. It was a great, stripey project to use up all those leftover dishcloth cottong. After several rounds, my hand just started screaming. I tried going up a hook size, but wasn’t happy with the fabric. So, I headed to the craft store to find a new hook with the larger handle. Works great!!
Now, if you’ve been reading for a while you might have noticed that I seldom make it out of a craft store without a few extra goodies. And this trip was no exception. I’ll share the goodies and then the project. They’re related … you’ll see.
First up was this wire basket. I always make a quick run through the sale aisles and I’ve had my eye on this piece for a while. I decided that if it was still there when the price was right … Well it had hit 80% off and I knew it was mine. It’s a leaf shape (love the shapes of leaves), open wire and perfect for displaying small cross-stitch finishes. It’ll look great on the shelves in the guest/craft room.
Next, I headed to pick up the crochet hook and wander through the yarn for a bit. I found cotton yarn in the perfect color combination for the project I’d been testing. They tie perfectly to the rest of house and fabrics I’ve been considering. Sugar’n Cream – country green, cottage twists, stonewashed denim, country yellow and country red. Did I mention they’re perfect 🙂
Here’s the new project — a Lucy Bag. When it’s finished, it will sit next to my rocker and hold pieces for an afghan I’m planning for the same room. The pattern for the Lucy Bag is here. I can’t remember how I found Lucy’s blog, Attic24, but I’m grateful. It’s full of inspiration and lovely colors. You really should go check it out. There’s a group on Ravelry too — We Love Lucy. I’ll share more pictures of the project bag when it’s finished — which should be soon.
So what’s up with you today? Thanks so much for visiting. Enjoy!
