The Summer Reading Challenge 2010 is winding down this month. I brought several books home from the bookstore this past weekend, took a little break from The Red Tent, a read another cozy mystery.
Gunpowder Green by Laura Childs is the second book in her Tea Shop Mystery series. Theodosia Browning is the owner of the Indigo Tea Shop and introducing a new tea flavor, Gunpowder Green, at the annual yacht race. A Yacht Club member is killed as he is about to mark the end of the race, when an antique gun he is holding misfires. Theodosia ruffles some feathers as she follows her hunch that the misfire was not an accident.
I enjoyed Oolong Dead, another book in the series, so much that I wanted to follow up with another. Although I usually prefer to read a series in order, I’m having trouble finding all the books. So far, the order hasn’t mattered. The characters are developed well in this book, people I’d enjoy knowing and being around. There are interesting references to “developing” technologies (copyright in 2002) that are no longer “new” now. I was clueless this time around and had no idea how the mystery would be solved until the very end.
How’s your summer reading coming along? Do you have any good books for me to add to my fall reading list?
