Color on Mondays – Purple

It’s week 6 of Jen‘s COLOR meme.  Today’s post is brought to you by the color

Much of today’s purple is found in the garden.

A photo from last fall is standing in for the lavender mum on the deck.  It’s twice this size now and full of buds just waiting to unfold.  DH repotted it at the end of the season and it wintered by the atrium door in the kitchen.  It promises to be a beauty.

The purple butterfly bush is just a couple of years old and has drawn many fluttering visitors to the garden.

This amethyst stone is in a tiny terrarium that sits on a shelf in the guest/craft room.  Another one of DH’s terrariums.  The amethyst came from a gift shop at one of the gem mines in Franklin, NC.

Calais shawl in Malabrigo violeta africana.  Don’t you just love the name of the color?  The shawl was finished just as the lilac wisteria was blooming.

Last . . . I love all the shades of violet in this yarn.  It doesn’t have a project yet.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for visiting!

  1. I don’t knit but I used to love going to wool shops and seeing all the beautiful yarns on display. I would love a jumper knitted in that wool or else a nice scarf . That shawl must have taken you ages to create – it looks so delicate and pretty and the name of the colour is just perfect.
