Stash Flash

I was on a yarn diet for a couple of months before the May fiber festival.  I tried very hard to curb my impulse yarn purchases so that I’d have plenty of cash for stash enhancement at the festival.  This year I went in with a plan — sock yarn, blue for me, darker tonal/semi-solid for J, fiber for spindle spinning — and came away with some lovely yarn and fiber.

Fiber Optic Yarns’ Foot Notes in the colorways twilight zone (top) and experimental batik (bottom).  These will be socks for me.

Miss Babs’ Windsor Sock Yarn for J’s next socks.  The colorways are black cherry soda (top) and bruin (bottom).

I picked up a skein of Weavers Loft cotton/linen at the festival last year and was able to find another on this trip.    I just love the look and feel of this yarn.  I’m thinking it wants to be a sweater or vest.  Or, I know this sounds strange, but I also think it would make a really cute smaller version of this.  What do you think?

After practicing a bit with the drop spindle, I knew I was hooked.  So I picked up Polwarth roving from Fiber Optic Yarns in robin’s egg blue.  I could hardly wait to start spinning with this gorgeous color.  I’m going slow and steady and it’s coming out fairly consistent.

It was well worth dieting so that I could splurge at the fiber festival.  And now I’m trying to diet a bit more until I get some of this knit up.  Wish me luck.
