Saturday Spindling ~ Tour de Fleece 2012

The 99th Tour de France began today and runs through July 22.  While the riders spin the wheels of their bikes, over 1600 participants will spin their wheels and spindles in the Tour de Fleece on Ravelry.

I’ve joined Team Knitabulls and have very simple goals.

        • Practice on the spindle every day the Tour rides.
        • Work on consistency in diameter and twist.

I’ve really been looking forward to this spin-along.  It will be a great motivation for me to improve my spindle skills.  This morning before breakfast I set up the leader, divided the fiber, and spun for about 15 minutes.  Early in the afternoon I spun for another 30 minutes while I watched the Knit Girlls podcast.  Actually, there was more listening than watching.  I’m not good enough to be able to look away from the spindle yet.  So . . .

Prologue/Day 1 Stats

  • Knit Picks Wool of the Andes, persimmon heather
  • Louet top whirl spindle
  • 11.7 g (.5 oz) spun

I’ll be spinning every day next week but probably won’t update each day.  Unless something really exciting happens, of course.

Happy Saturday, Happy Tour de France, Happy Tour de Fleece and  Happy Weekend!
