Weekend Wrap-up

Saturday morning, ~ J ~  and I headed to the Kentucky Guild of Artist and Craftsman Spring Fair.  It was overcast, warm with a breeze — perfect fair weather.  I didn’t want to fool with the camera, so I was only able to snap a couple of poor photos with my cell phone.  S/W Ver: 97.04.2BR

There didn’t seem to be as many booths as we had seen in the fall.  And unfortunately, the two we were specifically looking for weren’t there.

No matter, there were lovely works on display — photography, painting, weaving, jewelry, pottery, basketry and woodworking.  I fell in love with some small pottery teapots in whimsical shapes and colors.  ~ J ~ spent some time in the woodworking booths looking at pens.  It began to sprinkle as we were leaving.  Perfect timing       🙂

As we pulled into the neighborhood, I had a call to let me know that Mom was headed to the hospital ER.  Four hours later, all tests were good and I was able to get her back to her apartment with just a couple of prescriptions.

Saturday was also the beginning of the Index-Card-A-Day 2013 challenge, sponsored by Tammy @ Daisy Yellow.  It’s simple, really.  Create something (doodle, draw, paint, collage, stitch, stamp, write, whatever) on a 3×5 index card every day beginning June 1 and ending July 31.  Weekly themes and prompts are provided but you’re not required to use them.  If you think you might like to play along, you can get more information here.

This is the cover card for my finished stack.  I plan to post each week’s set of cards on the weekend.  This should be a challenge and fun.

Sunday was spent getting ready for a special summer visitor.  ~ T ~ will be coming home for a short visit on Tuesday.  He and ~ R ~ will be away for the summer so we’ll be babysitting their cat for a couple of months.  We made a quick trip to Pet Smart to pick up a few essentials.  It’s been quite a few years since Sydney has shared her house with anyone but us.  We’re expecting her to be a gracious hostess.

It’s time to slow down a bit so I’m heading off to add a square or two to the Scrappy Blanket.  I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.

♥  Janet

    1. Mom is doing better. Thanks, Karen. ICAD has been fun so far. My problem is that I don’t want to stop at one card per day. 🙂

I’ve not had a chance to comment before, but I’ve been reading along & I must say that I love your journal images etc. They are so inspiring to me. You are very talented.

Are you mostly working with watercolors? If I may ask …

    1. Welcome! Thanks for following along on my little blog and for the nice words about my journaling. I’ve used watercolors, inks, colored pencils . . . a bit of everything on my pages.
