Wednesday’s Progress Check (5)

Heavy rain last night has washed away the last little bits of snow.  Hooray!  It’s been a busy week so far.  I’ve taken a good bit of time to paint in the journals and experiment with a couple of new tools.  Time passes so quickly when I work in the journals.

On the needles . . . ~J’s~ socks were finally finished last night and I immediately pulled this yarn from the drawer to start a pair for me.  Hermione’s Everyday Socks has been on my list and several pair have popped up on blogs lately.  I took that as a sign.  One of my favorite pairs is knit from this yarn, so I’m looking forward to getting to work.

On the wheel . . . Both bobbins of the Sochi fiber are finished and the plying has begun.  I’ve been enjoying the wheel and the fiber so much and am really pushing to get this finished by the end of the Olympics/Ravellenics.  My hands are beginning to protest a bit and I’ve had to slow down.  Plying should be finished tomorrow.

On the Kindle . . . is Thursday’s in the Park by Hilary Boyd.  Started this last week and I’m almost finished.  The story has taken a turn I didn’t anticipate and now I’m curious about how the author will wrap it up.  I’m hoping for a happy ending for everyone, but I can’t quite see how that would work out.

Well, that’s it for me today.  How has your week been going?  I’m headed to the basement soon to sort through some old boxes that have been tucked in the corner for who knows how long.  Could be fun     🙂

  1. Janet – sounds like a very busy week – certainly I can understand how your hands must be protesting – but sometimes, when that spring sap starts running, there is no stopping us! Just be gentle with yourself and – enjoy!

Great job on the spinning and plying – love the colors 🙂

  2. Have fun with those socks. Let me know how you like that stretchy yarn. I tried it once and it was frustrating for me. I am in love with your fiber. It looks great!

    1. One of my favorite pair of socks is knit in this stretchy yarn. It was a bit fiddly at first and it was a pretty simple pattern. My fingers are crossed. 🙂

  3. I have always wanted to try that sock yarn. It looks like fun.
I am always so anxious to see how newly plied yarn knits up-I can’t wait to see how those Sochi colors turn out!

  4. Love the way your “Sochi yarn” is looking! How do you keep the stretchy yarn from being too tight? I, too, tried it once and struggled. I just finished and enjoyed a series of 5 mysteries by Julie Kramer.

  5. busy aren’t you! Love the sock color and I wonder what it’s like knitting with a bit of stretch in the yarn?? I’ll await your critique 🙂
