Wednesday Progress Check {11}

Happy Wednesday!

It’s a beautiful morning here!  As I write this post I’m sitting in a sunbeam, drinking coffee from my new summer cup and listening to the morning birdsong.  Perfect!       🙂

On the needles . . . are too many neglected WIPs to even count.  Instead of finishing anything, I cast on these two projects a few weeks ago and then stalled again.  I don’t even think I’ve shared them here at all.

Rhythm Socks
Rhythm Socks

I’ve turned the heel and am half-way to the toe on the first sock of a pair for ~J~.  The pattern is You’ve Got Rhythm by Betsy Lee McCarthy from her book, Knit Socks!  The yarn is Brown Sheep Wildfoote Luxury Sock in the handsome hiker colorway.  Enjoyable pattern, nice yarn and color.  Time to get back to work.

Cotton/Linen Cardi
Cotton/Linen Cardi

And I started an Annette cardi using a cotton/linen yarn I bought at the fiber festival last year.  The yarn is very slubby and varies from light fingering to a heavy worsted.  I had to do some fiddling with needle sizes to get a fabric I liked and then some math for cast on.  I love this pattern.

On the shelf and Kindle . . . Since my last Wednesday Progress Check (whoa — that was at the end of March) I  ::

  • finished Time Flies by Claire Cook  —  I enjoy her books.
  • read Sweet Tea Revenge by Laura Childs  —  Love the author and her Tea Shop Mystery series.
  • read Divergent by Veronica Roth — L•O•V•E this book.  Read it in a matter of days, which is unheard of for me.
  • started Insurgent by Veronica Roth — Second book in the Divergent series.  I’m about 75% of the way through and loving it too.

Yes, it was a good month for reading.  Goodreads says I’m 2 books ahead of schedule on the 2014 Reading Challenge goal of 20 books.  Yea me!

There you have it.  How’s your week shaping up?

  2. Sounds perfect.
I’ve had a rough start to the week, so haven’t really done anything yet. I just made coffee, thinking I’d get into gear now, but then Arthur decided he needed my sweater to dry on after being in the rain. The one I’m wearing….
So I haven’t even got something to blog about.

That sock pattern looks perfect for your yarn.

      1. Well, after I wrote here, I went out and photoed some apple blossoms, so there. And then I spun some ugly pink wool. 😉

  3. Time seems to fly when the weather turns nicer and we forget about the blogging world a bit and turn our attentions elsewhere — but we’re not alone. 😉

Great projects Janet and wow – you sure are making headway with your book reading challenge! Good on you!

      1. Balance – yup – your key idea for 2014 – often strikes when we least expect it – and I think we instinctively operate by following what it is we really need to be doing – at least it seems to work out better that way — you know, the heart and mind says “read more – you’re missing out” and then eventually something will inspire you to get back to the knitting. It’s all good – besides, who knows what new things and adventures will inspire other interests?

      2. It *does* seem like that, doesn’t it —- but perhaps with the daylight hours getting longer, we’ll be fooled into thinking otherwise?

  5. Ahhhh. Quiet time. I remember how nice that is. But no quiet time today. Hit the ground running and still won’t get all I need to do done. Love the knitting!

  6. Love both of the patterns, Janet! Now I have to check out that book title. I just finished Oxygen by Carol Cassella and could hardly put it down.
