I took a little blog break recently but not a break from the Documented Life Project. I wasn’t sure if I’d keep this up all year, but I’m pleased that I’ve not missed a week yet. Hope I didn’t just jinx myself. Here are the pages finished during my break.
Week 36 Challenge (August 31) : black and white
I didn’t have a large piece of paper to cover the page so I decided to use the odd scraps in a grid pattern. Five different washi tapes — love washi tapes — and white pen.
Week 37 Challenge (September 7) : use a white pen prominently on your page
This is definitely a favorite page. The background is mixed media paper (attached to the journal later) with acrylic paints spread with a plastic card. Broad and fine tip white pens for the designs.
Week 38 Challenge (September 14) : draw, paint, doodle, sketch a feather onto your page
I’ve used this stencil lots of times and use broad strokes with a paint pen to add the feather details.
Week 39 Challenge (September 21) : splatters and drips
A thin layer of gesso as a background to strengthen the paper and then very watery watercolor dabbed at the top. A couple of sprays of water to encourage the paint to run. Paint brush splatters to finish. There was probably more that could be done with the page, but I really like the colors and simplicity.
