WIP Wednesday ~ 3.2.16

Yesterday had March written all over it.  Sunshine, warmer temperatures and breezy, sometimes blustery, winds.  Afternoon rain left a fresh scent in the air.  My hopes for an early spring were alive and well.

This morning we woke up to snow flakes.  Just a tease, sticking only to the deck boards.  A reminder that it is still technically winter.

On the needles this week . . .

Samothrace Wings is growing nicely with 10 wedges completed.  The pattern is fairly easy to memorize and works up quickly.  This design shows off the colors in my Downton handspun so nicely.  It’s not going to be easy to set it aside now.

The first pair of March YOSS socks are on the needles.  I’ve chosen the Spring Forward pattern in Knit Picks Stroll, herbal wreath colorway.  Another easy to memorize pattern, just what I need right now.  I forgot to divide the yarn before I cast on so I’ll be knitting one sock at a time.

An unfinished page from the journal . . .

Not at all sure where this page is headed.  I loved the background colors so much I didn’t want to cover them so I left it to sit for a week or so.  I added tissue elements and back pondering again.  It’s a journey, not a race.  Ah . . . maybe that’s a good quote for this page.  Hmmmmm.

Happy Wednesday!  Enjoy the rest of your week!

FO Friday ~ Lombard Street Socks

Last pair of socks for February.3-DSCN4371

Pattern  ::  Lombard Street Socks
Yarn  ::  Fiber Optic Yarns Foot Notes, twilight zone colorway
Needle  ::  US 1.5 (2.5 mm)

Pair #5 for the Year of Stash Socks (YOSS) challenge.

This was such an enjoyable knit.  The cables and lace pattern was easy to follow and kept the knitting interesting.  And the Fiber Optic yarn makes a strong, soft fabric.  I wish I could show you the true rich color of this yarn.   It’s been so dreary here and the lighting is dull.  It’s been hard to get a good photo.

I followed the pattern suggestions for the modified eye of partridge heel and a wedge toe, but substituted a 1×1 rib for the pattern’s picot cuff.  They feel wonderful on my feet.  Another pair I LVE.

Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend!

FO Friday ~ My Cup of Tea Socks

Hello there.  Happy Friday!

Yes indeed – another pair of socks off the needles.

Pattern  ::  My Cup of Tea Socks
Yarn  ::  Unplanned Peacock Studio Diva Sock
Needle  ::  US 1.5 (2.5 mm)

Pair #4 for the Year of Stash Socks (YOSS) challenge.

Love, love, love these socks.  The crocus stitch pattern travels down the front of the sock only, leaving the back in plain stockinette.  All that stockinette makes for a quick knit.  This is a great colorway, shades of red with pops of tan and brown, and so soft.

Enjoy your weekend!

FO Friday ~ Slip Stitch Line Socks

Hooray for Friday!

The snow has mostly melted.  The prediction for more snow overnight didn’t materialize.  We have a three-day weekend coming up.  AND I finished a pair of socks last night.

Pattern  ::  Slipped Stitch Lines
Yarn  ::  Brown Sheep Wildfoote Luxury Sock in handsome hiker
Needles  ::  US 1.5/2.5 mm circulars

Pair #3 for the Year of Stash Socks (YOSS) challenge

Ends sewn in yesterday and ~J~ is wearing them today.  I am so lucky that he enjoys handknit socks.

The pattern is simple, straight-forward and works up quickly.  Such a dark yarn, it’s hard to show the brown and teal colors in a photo.  It feels a bit rough to me but ~J~ doesn’t notice.

My Cup of Tea Socks were actually finished before this pair.  I took the pair to work on while visiting with my mom and left the finished sock behind at her apartment.  The snow came and I haven’t had a chance to pick it up.  So as soon as I get photos I’ll have another pair to share.

Are you tired of seeing and hearing about socks?  I hope not because I started this pair last night.  I may be a bit obsessed with socks right now.

Enjoy your weekend!

FO Friday ~ Socks on a Plane

The last two mornings have begun with crisp temperatures and beautiful sunrises.

Skies filled with pinks, golds, oranges and blues — a beautiful way to start the day.

And for FO Friday . . .

2-DSCN4251

Pattern  ::  Socks on a Plane
Yarn  ::  Cascade Heritage Paints in Indian Summer
Needles  ::  US 1.5 (2.5 mm) circulars

These were finished over the past weekend and ~J’s~ already worn them.  I knit these over 60 stitches instead of my usual 64 and the fit is nice and snug.  Such a nice pattern and yarn, these socks just seemed to fly off the needles.  This is pair #2 for the YOSS challenge.

Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend!
